All our Boxing Classes are designed with all levels in mind.  From a beginner to an advanced boxer.  We see Onyx as an individual workout in a group setting.  

No exercises are performed for reps but instead are time based.  This allows each individual to compete with themselves and the clock.

Each boxer has their own aqua bag which allows for each person to experience their own individual workout in a group setting.

The Aqua Training Bag harnesses the power of water by utilizing water in place of sand or other heavy bag contents, everyone from fitness beginners to professional fighters can experience cardio boxing without sacrificing power or risk of potential injury from hard spots.

Aqua Training Bags provide the perfect platform for everyone to challenge their inner fighter, no matter what their experience level is.  Whether you're a boxing veteran or beginner you will be able to train at your intensity level.  Onyx Boxing is an Individual Workout in a Group Setting.  This allows for each class to be challenging for all skill levels.  We Train up which allows each individual to train at a high level or you may need to pace yourself. 

We specialize in taking someone with no boxing experience and turning them into knowledgeable experienced boxers.

We also offer private training to brush up or get familiar with the technique and movements given in class, but that is not a prerequisite.

Boxing is a sport.  As with most high impact sports, it requires the legs, core and upper body to perform together. 

Our 7 minute warmup consists of body weight squats, lunges, push ups, situps, and mountain climbers.

At the end of either our 8 or 10 rounds of boxing you will finish with 7 minutes of CORE or Booty Band Glute exercises.

It’s an intoxicating experience with 8-10 Rounds of Boxing for EVERYONE! We start with a 7 minute warm up which includes shadow boxing to help get your mind right. You will go through :15 seconds of Active Rest exercise in-between rounds that will keep you on your toes and sweating. The atmosphere will be electric from the playlists, to the lighting and the energetic coaches guiding you through the best 45 minutes of your day!

Handwraps & Boxing Gloves are required to attend classes and during any training session. We have traditional hand wraps which can be purchased at our Pro Shop!  Boxing Gloves can be rented for free or find a dope pair to purchase at our Pro Shop!

Whatever makes you feel comfortable and powerful! Any running or training style shoe is recommended for class but if you own a pair of boxing shoes you will definitely catch the coaches eye!

Think flat sole shoes.

When a spot opens up, you will be automatically pushed into the class and you will receive an email confirming your space in the class. If you're not able to make the class once notified, just cancel your class and we’ll handle the rest. 

Not a problem.  We understand life can be busy.  Just let your instructor know before class begins and do your best to book a bag close to the boxing ring or front area. Please try not to disturb other guests when leaving.

We strongly believe it's better late than never! But we do require our members and guest show up 15 minutes prior to class start time.  During low volume class times there may not be entry after class begins.

Early bird gets the worm.  We offer a 6:15am class Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

If you hit that snooze button and want to sleep in a little longer we offer a 7:30am class Monday, Wednesday, and Friday as well!

For those that have a late start to the morning or maybe once you get the kids off to school and have the mid-morning to yourself we offer a 9:15am class Monday through Friday.

Onyx is not your typical fitness club,  studio or gym.  We pride ourselves in providing the most authentic boxing experience in Scottsdale, Arizona.  

You wil not only learn to box, but have fun and get a great workout.

We offer Fight Camps which takes an individual through a 6 week daily program.

We offer Sparring Classes.

This is not your grandma's Tae Bo.  You get to HIT and not get HIT... unless that is your intention - in that case, we offer sparring classes.   We teach you how to throw proper Jab, Cross, Hooks, and Uppercuts.  Along with advanced defense Slip, Roll, Step Back, Fades, Pivots, Cus D'Amato Shift, Lomachenko Footwork, Blocks, Catches, and Mike Tyson style Peek A Boo fighting.  These are all taught in our group boxing classes and One on One Private Training.

Yes. All our trainers go through an extensive 12 week internship program with the Founder and Certified USA Boxing Coach Steve Murbach.  After graduating through our internship program, all our trainers test to become Certified USA Boxing Coaches. We always advise to consult with your doctor prior to boxing and after if you developed any injuries.  

Most injuries are preventable with proper technique and sound advice from experienced trainers.  

All Onyx trainers are trained and experienced to teach proper technique from turning your punches over, snapping your punches, knuckle placement, and pivoting. 

Yes.  We are constantly evolving as The Premier Boxing Studio of The Valley.

We offer weekly group SPARRING CLASSES designed to take beginner, intermediate and advanced individuals and teach them how to fight in the ring. We teach proper footwork technique, how to throw punches and how to take a punch from an opponent.  Once a week for 60 minutes you will be taken through skill-building drills and partnered up for live sparring!
